Meet captions the conversation and does nothing for the chat or the follow-up. Hold a key and talk: Typally transcribes and types it into Google Meet without you touching the keyboard.
Written by the team behind Typally. Google Meet's own features are described as accurately as we can — check them yourself before switching anything.Live captions and, on some Workspace tiers, meeting transcripts and notes.
During a call you are already speaking, so typing in chat means doing two things badly. The follow-up afterwards — what was decided, who owns what — is what actually matters and is written by nobody.
In practice people use it for: In-meeting chat, links and context shared during a call, post-meeting summaries, and follow-up messages.
Because Typally types at the system level rather than plugging into Google Meet, setup is the same everywhere:
Install, sign in, and it waits in the tray.
Make sure Google Meet has the cursor in the intended field; that is the only thing that decides where words appear.
Nothing truncates part-way through.
Your microphone is live to the meeting. Mute before using push-to-talk dictation, or the room hears it.
Typally covers the ninety seconds after a call, when you still remember what was agreed and have not yet started the next thing. Mute first if you are still connected; otherwise the meeting hears your dictation.
A team lead speaks the follow-up in the gap before the next call — three decisions, two owners, one open question — and posts it. The Thursday 'what did we agree?' thread stops happening.
Write the follow-up in the two minutes after the call. That is the only window where you remember what was agreed rather than what was discussed.

Live captions are standard and transcripts are available on some Workspace tiers. Neither writes the follow-up.
Yes, but mute yourself first — the call has your microphone.
No. A transcript is everything said; notes are what was decided. Those are different documents.
There is a permanent free tier of 100 minutes a month. Pro costs $7.99/month and raises the limit.
