Cloudflare rules are powerful, invisible in effect, and almost never documented. With Typally you hold a hotkey, speak, and the text lands in Cloudflare Dashboard exactly where your cursor was.
We make Typally, so treat this as a vendor's guide. Where Cloudflare Dashboard has a built-in option we say so, including when it is the better choice.None. Rule descriptions and notes are typed.
A page rule, WAF exception or redirect changes behaviour globally and silently. Without a description saying why it exists, nobody dares touch it, and the rule list grows until the free tier limit forces a reckoning.
In practice people use it for: Rule descriptions, WAF exception notes, DNS record comments, and Worker documentation.
Typally runs in the background and types into whatever window has focus, so there is nothing to install inside Cloudflare Dashboard:
Install, sign in, and it waits in the tray.
Put the cursor in the field you are about to fill — Cloudflare Dashboard decides where the text lands, not Typally.
Push to talk, say your piece, release to transcribe.
API tokens and secrets appear in this dashboard. Never dictate a token value.
Typally types into the Cloudflare dashboard's description and comment fields, so the reason a rule exists is captured when you add it. It works the same in your editor for Worker comments, which is where the more detailed explanation usually belongs.
Someone auditing a zone adds a spoken comment to each of thirty-one DNS records. Fourteen point at services that no longer exist, and removing them takes the zone from confusing to legible.
Describe every WAF exception with what it unblocks and when it can be reviewed. Exceptions added 'temporarily' outlive everyone who remembers them.

No. All fields are typed.
Because a record with no comment is a record nobody will remove, even years after the service behind it is gone.
Comment it by voice; type the JavaScript.
